Answer:

[4, -2]

Explanation:

{y = x − 6

{3x + 2y = 8

3x + 2[x − 6] = 8

3x + 2x - 12 = 8

|______|

5x - 12 = 8

+ 12 + 12

____________

5x = 20

__ __

5 5

x = 4 (Plug this back into the both equations above to get the y-coordinate −2); −2 = y

y=x-6
3x+2y=8

Using substitution method:
3x+2(x-6)=8
3x+2x-12=8
5x=20
x=4
Now substitute x in one of the two equations given to find y:

y=4-6
y=-2

The solution is (4,-2).
