Answer:

2x-3y=13" "

" " x+2y=-4

multiply by 2

2x-3y=13" "

"2" x+4y=-8

Subtract the equations:

0-7y=5

-7y=21

divide by -7

y=-3

To find x, substitute y in the second equation with -3 and then find x:

x+2(-3) =-4

x-6=-4

x=-4+6

x=2

Solution= (2, -3).

2x-3y=13 equation (1)
x+2y=-4 equation (2)

multiply equation (2) by -2
-2x-4y=8 now we got equation (3)

Add equations(1) and (3) and combine like terms
2x-2x-3y-4y=13+8
-7y=21
y=-21/7= -3

substitute y with -3 in equation (2) and solve
x+2(-3)=-4
x-6=-4
x= -4+6
x=2

the solution for the system of equations is x=2, y= -3
