Jerrod found the hypotenuse of a right triangle with legs 3 ft and 1 ft. Is his answer correct?

c2 = 32 + 12
c2 = 9 + 1
c2 = 8
c = sqare root of 8

Answer: C- No, he subtracted 1 and 9 instead of adding.

Solution:

As per the problem we have

Jerrod found the hypotenuse of a right triangle with legs 3 ft and 1 ft.

As we know from the Pythagoras theorem in a right angled Triangle

Square of hypotenuse=Sum of the square of rest of the two sides

So we can write , if C represents the hypotenuse

Hence his answer was not correct
