x+3y=5 4x+5y=13

Get X on one side
x=-3y+5

Plug into the other equation

4(-3y+5)+5y=13

Distribute terms
-12y+20+5y=13

Combine like terms
-7y+20=13

Isolate Y
-7y=-7

Divide by -7
y=1

Now that you have y plug it into X=-3y+5
X=-3(1)+5

X=2

Your final answer is 2,1 (x=2 y=1)
