Answer:

Technology makes it possible to extract petroleum from the earth. Once the geologists have located an area that they believe contains oil, they set up an oil rig to begin to test their hypothesis. Only about one in seven rigs is actually profitable. Once the oil is located, a hole is drilled in the earth to a specified depth, tubing is then placed and cemented so that the oil can be pumped from the ground to nearby holding tanks. Fracking is the process by which water is pumped into the earth, primarily shale rock, to promote the breakage of the rock and the release of fossil fuels, specifically natural gas and petroleum, making them easier to extract. Both drilling for oil and fracking are controversial practices in our society. On one hand, we are dependent upon these practices to supply us with the fossil fuels we use daily, and on the other hand their extraction and use pose a risk to our environment by contributing to global warming.

Petroleum, crude oil, is unprocessed oil that is taken directly from the earth. It is one of the most valuable nonrenewable resources on the planet. Crude oil provides hydrocarbons, organic compounds, that are used to make things like gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, lubricating oils, asphalt and even plastics. In its raw state, crude oil is thick, dark and not very useful. To convert petroleum to a useful state, it needs to be refined through a process called fractional distillation.

Fractional distillation is a processes that takes a chemical mixture, in this case petroleum, and separates out the various components of that mixture using heat. Different compounds within a mixture have different boiling points. Heating the mixture allows it to separate. During oil refining, crude oil is heated and the individual organic compounds are properly separated. Once the compounds are separated, they are further refined and treated to produce things such as gasoline, diesel, propane, jet fuel, lubricating oil, plastics, cosmetics, medicines and tar.

This was from the lesson.

The answer to your question should be Both plastic and gasoline are products of petroleum.

Answer:

The relationship between plastic and gasoline is: Both plastic and gasoline are products of pretroleum.

Step-by-step explanation:

To understand this answer we need to analyze both elements.

Plastic is made using oil and other elements to make it less oily based due to environmental and health impact. To make it we need polymerization which is a process of uniting all of them and then we use polycondensation, which is the process to take out the impurities.

Gasoline is made from crude oil. To make it crude oil has to pass through a different chain of precesses which almost all of all are heating of the substance and filtering it to make it less harmful, raw and polluting. That is why the place where it is made is called refinery because they refine it until it's best commercial law permitted level.

So that is why the correct answer is that both are petroleum products. Because crude/oil is petroleum.
