Answer:

(3)/(`100) miles does it move in one hour

Explanation:

Unit rate is defined as the rate are expressed as the quantity as 1 such as 3 miles per hour or 4 meter per second.

As per the statement:

A snail moves 1/40 of a mile in 5/6 of an hour. If the snail continues at this pace.

By definition of unit rate:

\text{Unit rate per hour} = ((1)/(40))/((5)/(6))

\text{Unit rate per hour} = (1)/(40) * (6)/(5) = (6)/(200) =(3)/(`100) miles

Therefore,
(3)/(`100) miles does it move in one hour

Solution:

As per the problem

A snail moves 1/40 of a mile in 5/6 of an hour.

We have been asked to find how far, in miles, does it move in one hour?

Since the snail moves 1/40 of a mile in 5/6 of an hour.

So the snail will moves
(1)/(40)*6=(3)/(20) of a mile in
(5)/(6)*6=5 hours.

So snail moves
(3)/(20)*(1)/(5)=(3)/(100)=0.03 miles in 1 hour.
