Mechanics of Myocardial Infarction
A myocardial infarction occurs when one of the main coronary arteries, or one of the smaller branches, is unable to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the main muscle layer of the heart. Ischemia is the insufficient blood supply to an organ, usually used in reference to a heart with a blocked artery.
