Answer: The amount of sunlight received by the different parts of earth.

Step-by-step explanation:

The amount of sunlight received by the earth at different places are different.

The amount of sunlight at poles is very less so the temperature there is very cold and most of the colder regions are located here.

In contrast to this the amount of sunlight received by equator is much more which makes the equator part hot as compared to other parts.
