Which quotations from Sojourner Truth's speech “Ain’t I a Woman?” are examples of fallacious reasoning?

Select each correct answer.

"Look at me! Look at my arm! I have ploughed and planted, and gathered into barns, and no man could head me! And ain't I a woman?"

"That man over there says that women need to be helped into carriages, and lifted over ditches, and to have the best place everywhere. Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud-puddles, or gives me any best place!"

"Then they talk about this thing in the head; what's this they call it? [member of audience whispers, 'intellect'] That's it, honey. What's that got to do with women's rights or negroes' rights?"

"I have borne thirteen children, and seen most all sold off to slavery, and when I cried out with my mother's grief, none but Jesus heard me!"

This is one of those questions that the right answer is in the head of the person posing it. I think that all are good arguments either emotionally or intellectually.

The last one is heart breaking. Nothing faulty there.

The second one is very well reasoned. She is saying that she does not get the same respect that other (perhaps white ) women get.

The first one is perfectly logical. Those are good examples to back up her point.

That only leaves the third one. Pick it, but be careful. It sounds like there is more to the quotation than we have at hand. Pick it, but don't be surprised if your marker tells you that you are wrong. I would gently argue your case and then leave it alone. What has intellect got to do with being a woman or a colored person? It's a good question she's asking.
