During the Renaissance, a noble-born woman could either marry a man chosen by her family or live life out in a nunnery.


Learning a trade was not an option for a woman, especially one of noble birth. Nor was it possible for her to migrate to the New World -- unless, of course, it was her husband or father who decided to go.
