10/1 * 1/3 = 30/3

1 1/3 = 4/3

4/3 can only go into 30/3, 7 times, with a remainder of 2/3.

7 2/3

Alright, lets get started.

A baker has 10 cups of sugar to make cookies. Each batch calls for 1 1/3 cups of sugar.

1(1)/(3) is a mixed number, we could write it in fraction form
(4)/(3).

(4)/(3) cups of sugar required for = 1 batch

Hence 1 cup of sugar required for =
(1)/((4)/(3))

Hence 1 cup of sugar required for
= (3)/(4)

So, 10 cups of sugar required for =
(3)/(4) *10

So, 10 cups of sugar required for =
(30)/(4)

(30)/(4) could be written as
(15)/(2)

or we could write
7(1)/(2)

So, he could make
7(1)/(2) batches of cookies. : Answer

Hope it will help :)
