Alright, lets get started.

When teh function is above the x axis, it is said to be positive.

When the function is below the x axis, it is said to be negative.

Now, looking at the graph provided with question, from -8 to -6, the function is above the x axis.

After -6, function goes below the x axis till -2.

In between -2 to 4, function again goes above x axis.

Means two times function goes above the x axis.

Between -8 to -6

Between -2 to 4

Hence there are two intervals where function is positive.

[-8,-6)and(-2,4)

Hope it will help :)
