How do you find slope on a coordinate plane

Rise is the height. Run is right or left. It doesn't matter if you go left or right for the run because it always ends up with the same answer.

I put an example. 2 would be rise and 5 would be run. So the slope for that example is 2/5.

Steps.

1. Count the rise

2. Count the run

3. Put rise over run

4. That's your slope... rise/run

Explanation:

Step 1:

Find the two points and plot them on the graph to determine their coordinates.

Step 2:

Determine the y-coordinate difference of the points also known as the rise.

Step 3:

Determine the x-coordinate difference of the two points also known as the run.

Step 4:

Divide the differences in the y-coordinates by the difference in the x-coordinates.

REMEMBER!!! Rise over run.
