She became the first African American woman to travel in space when she went into orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour on September 12, 1992!!

Well for one she was American engineer for NASA and was the first women to travel to space(bet that was cool lol). Also i think personally that she was a symbol for women world wide.Showing that not only us men could do it.
