How would you write 1,496,000,000 in scientific notation?

scientific notation needs to have the decimal point right after the first nonzero number, the first from the left.
In this case, the decimal is right now at the very end of the number, behind the last zero. (it isn't written, but it is there)
count from where it is to where it should be (after the 1, you have moved it 9 digits to the left, so it should be written as
1.496×10^9
