128 ÷ 2 = 64
64 ÷ 2 = 32
32 ÷ 2 = 16

or

128 × 1/2 = 64
64 × 1/2 = 32
32 × 1/2 = 16

Divide 2 (because of half) three times from 128

128/2 = 64
64/2 = 32
32/2 = 16

16 teams are left after 3 rounds of games
