Whittier was an American poet who lived during the 19th century. He was a staunch advocate of the abolition of slavery, and he wrote many poems about such topics. One of such poems is The Farewell, about the experiences of daughters of slaves.
2. Uncle Tom's Cabin = Harriet Beecher Stowe
Published in 1872, the novel still remains one of the most important anti-slavery texts ever. The novel is about Tom, a black slave, and his life and hardships, but also love and religion which can help overcome such terrible events.
3. first American antislavery society = Dr. Benjamin Rush
Benjamin Rush was one of the Founding Fathers of America. He was many things - an educator, a physician, a politician, etc. He was against slavery, and fought to free slaves, which is why many people admired him and created societies in his name.
