The War of 1812 was a conflict that confronted the United States against the United Kingdom and its Canadian colonies that developed between 1812 and 1815. The clashes occurred by land and by sea.

In Canada this war is remembered as a victory by avoiding the conquest of its southern neighbors, while in the United States it is celebrated as the birth of a new spirit of national unity of the young nation and an important demonstration of international strength that would make from London, there was no questioning of American independence.
