The answer is: " 0.37 degrees" ; or, write as: " 0.37 ° " .
_____________________________________________________________
Step-by-step explanation:
_____________________________________________________________
Given: 22' 36'' ; or: "22 minutes and 36 seconds" ;

→ Convert to "degrees" ; to the nearest "hundredth" ;
____________________________________________________
→ 22 minutes and 36 seconds = 22
(36)/(60) minutes .
_____________________________________________________
{Note the following "exact measurements" :

"60 minutes = 1 degree" .

"60 seconds = 1 minute" .} .
_____________________________________________________

Note:
(36)/(60) ;

= "
((36/12))/((60/12))  =   (3)/(5)  =  ((3*2))/((5*2))  =  (6)/(10) " ;
_________________________________________________________________
or: "
(36)/(60) =
((36/6))/((60/6)) = (6)/(10) " ;
_________________________________________________________________
→ " \frac{6}{10} [/tex] = 0.6 " .
_________________________________________________________________
As such:

→ " 22' 36" = 22
(36)/(60) ;

= 22 \frac{6}{10} [/tex] ;

= 22.6 ' ;
________________________________________________________________
Since: 60 minutes = 1 degree ← {exact measurement}.

22.6 minutes * (1 degree/ 60 minutes) = [(22.6 * 1) / 60] degrees;

= [(22.6) / 60] degrees ;

= 0.3766666666666667 degrees ; ____________________________________________________________
→ We are asked to round to the nearest "hundredth" degree.

→ Given: "0.3766666666666667 degrees" ;

We examine: "0.376 " ;
→ Look at the number in the "thousandths place"; if it is 5 to 9, we round up;
if it is 0 to 4, we round down. In this case, the number is "6" (which is "5 to 9"), so we round up.
___________________________________________________________
→ The answer is: " 0.37 degrees" ; or, write as: " 0.37 ° " .

as you know, there are 60 minutes per degree and 60 seconds per minute.

so in 36", there are 36/60 minutes, or 0.6' then.

now, we already have 22' before that, so is really 22 + 0.6 or 22.6'.

how many degrees? 22.6/60 degrees, or... well, surely you'd know that.
