Convert the discount into a decimal then multiple the amount with that decimal. Finally whatever that amount it subtract that from the original amount.
$59.00 x 10% = $59 x .10 = $5.90
$59.00 - $5.90 = $53.10
Answer: $53.10

2 ways to do this...
(1) 59 - 0.10(59) = 59 - 5.90 = 53.10 <==
or
(2)...if ur getting 10% off, then ur paying 90%
0.90 * 59 = 53.10 <==
