800 * 1.20 = 960 <==

or this way..
800 + 0.20(800) = 800 + 160 = 960 <==

Given, the cost of TV = $800.

The total cost includes a VAT of 20%.

So we have to find first 20% of $800.

20% of $800 =
(800)((20)/(100) )

=
((800)(20))/(100)

=
(16000)/(100)

=
160

So the amount of VAT = $160.

Total cost of TV = cost of TV + VAT on it

Total cost of TV = $800 + $160 = $
(800+160) = $
960

So we have got the required answer.

Total cost of TV = $960.
