If the parabola y - 8 = 3(x - h)² has the line x = 5 as its axis of symmetry, find h.

h = 5 because if you added 8 to the other side of the equation, then the equation would be in vertex form, where the opposite of h, and the value of k (8) is your vertex. So, we know that the x-value of the vertex is also the axis of symmetry, so the axis of symmetry is also the x-value of the vertex, or h.
