Find the greatest number which divides 125 and 245 leaving remainder 4and3 respectively.​

The number will be no larger than the square root of 125. Checking the results, the answer turns out to be 11

125/11 = 11.363636....

.3636363636..... * 11 = 4 just what we wanted.

245 / 11 = 22.2727272727....

.272727272727 ,,, * 11 = 3 just what the question asked for.

Is there anything larger? No. sqrt(125) is going to determine the limit of divisors that we can try.
