Set the price of popcorn be x, and price of candy be y, we have two equation
1: 28x+40y= 282;
2: 17x+20y = 160.5;
The second equation times 2 minus the first equation we will get 6x = 321-282 = 39;
X = 6.5, the price of popcorn is $6.5
