Answer is liquid ; solid

Seismic waves are the waves of energy caused by an earthquake. They are the energy that travels through the earth and is recorded on seismographs. Since they are a mechanical wave, requires a medium to travel. P or primary wave and S or shear wave are seismic waves. P- Wave is a compression or longitudinal wave which can travel through solids, liquids and gasses. S-wave is a transverse wave and can only travel through solids. The movement of seismic waves depends on the density and elastic properties of the medium through which they travel. These waves travel faster in solid than in liquid.
