Norms are unspoken rules an area typically conforms to. Three examples could be waiting in line, shaking a person's outstretched hand, or manners.

Norms are basically things that nobody talks about but it’s just a custom we all do or have. For example, some norms in the US would be we smile a lot. Another could be we have flags everywhere no matter what. Lastly, we apologize for everything.
