f(x) is telling you that the x has no specific value, but if you make it f(2) now the x is telling you that it equals 2. so that leads you to adding 4+2 which is 6

4+2=6

I’m assuming you just substitute 2 in the equation for x:
4 + x = 4 + 2 = 6

Answer = 6
