What's the equivalent expression for 6(7 - 3y) + 6(y+ 1)

Answer: 47 - 12y OR -12y + 47

6(7 - 3y) + 6(y + 1) Distributive Property*
42 - 18y + 6(y + 1) Distributive Property*
42 - 18y + 6y + 6 Combine like terms
42 - 12y + 6 Combine like terms
47 - 12y Answer!
-12y + 47 Answer!

*Distributive Property
Ex. 7(y - 11) = (7)(y) + (7)(-11) = 7y - 77
-(y - 9) = (-1)(y) + (-1)(-9) = -y + 9

= 42 - 18y + 6y + 6
= -12y + 48
