6z -2 =0 so wouldnt you take 6 from 2 which would make z=4

You would want to get the z by it’s self if you’re solving for z. So first you’d add to to both sides so it’d be 6z=2 then you’d divide each side by 6 so you’d get z= 2/6 and if your teacher wants a decimal answer put that in your calculator and get it but my teachers take the fraction answer.

You would not subtract 2 from 6 because they are not like terms that you can combine - one of them contains a variable.

You would solve this equation like so:

6z - 2 = 0 The given equation
6z = 2 Add 2 to both sides
z = 1/3 Divide both sides by 6

Answer:
z = 1/3

Hope this helps.
