One month, the price of gas was $1.44. The next month the price of gas was $2.40. What was the approximate percent of increase from one month, to the next?

Step 1:
Find the difference between the two numbers.
$2.40-$1.44= $0.96

Step 2:
Divide by the original number.
$0.96/1.44= 0.667

Step 3:
Multiply by 100 to find percent increase.
0.667 * 100= 66.7% rounded to one decimal place or 67% rounded
