CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE!

Part of the arena is being turned into a public darkroom. The floor needs covering in rubber tiles before work can begin on the dark room.

The tiles are 20 cm by 30 cm.

The dark room floor is 6 metres by 3 metres.
Are 280 tiles enough?

How many more/less tiles are needed?

Answer:

No, 20 more tiles are needed.

Explanation:

Every meter is 100 cm. This means 6 meters is 6(100) = 600 cm.

3 meters is 3(100) = 300 cm.

Each tile is 20 by 30. This means that if we line the 20 cm side of each tile up along the 600 cm side of the room, we would need

600/20 = 30 tiles.

This would mean we would line the 30 cm side of each tile up along the 300 cm side of the room, which means we need

300/30 = 10 tiles.

This gives us a total number of 30(10) = 300 tiles.

If, on the other hand, we line the 30 cm side of each tile up along the 600 cm side of the room, we would need

600/30 = 20 tiles.

We would then line the 20 cm side of each tile up along the 300 cm side of the room, which means we would need

300/20 = 15 tiles.

This gives us a total number of 20(15) = 300 tiles.

Either way, we need 300 tiles; this means we lack

300-280 = 20 tiles.
