As per given description, given points are(-4,-1) and (1 1/2,2).

Now question says to find the approximate rate of change of line passing through given points. We know that slope of line gives rate of change of the line. Hence we are going to find the slope m using formula:

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

m=(-1-2)/(-4- 1 (1)/(2))

m=(-3)/(-5 (1)/(2))

m=(-3)/(- (11)/(2))

m=(-3*2)/(-11)

m=(6)/(11)

m=0.545454545455

Hence rate of change of the given line is
(6)/(11) which is approx 0.55.
