Mari went to an amusement park. Mari brought $80 to spend on her two favorite games and ended up spending all her money. Her 2nd favorite game is the ring toss, which costs $4. Her ultimate favorite game is the three-point shooting contest, which costs $8. Define two variables and then write an equation that represents the possible ways Mari could have spent her money.

Given that Mari went to an amusement park where she spent all her money which was $80. There she played two type of games.

Given that cost of playing "Ring Toss" game once = $4

Let She played "Ring Toss" game x times.

Then total cost for x ring toss games = 4x


Given that cost of playing "Three point shooting contest" once = $8

Let She played "Three point shooting contest" y times.

Then total cost for y "Three point shooting contest" = 8y


Now total spenditure will be sum of both which is given by (4x+8y)

Given that she spend $80 completely so both will be equal.


Hence required equation will be 4x+8y=80.
