Hey!

In basketball, a player is holding a ball then bounces it towards another player to pass. This is an example of a change from POTENTIAL energy (in player 1's hand) to KINETIC energy (when it hits the floor at the bottom of the bounce).

Potential energy is the energy possessed by a body during it's state of rest or configuration. When the ball is in player's one hand, ball is at rest and thus possess potential energy.

Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by a body during it's state of motion. When the player passes ball to another player and bounces, it is in motion and thus, possess kinetic energy.

Hope it helps...!!!
