Width of rectangle = 10.75 cm

Explanation:

Let the length of rectangle be x.

And width of rectangle be y.

According to the problem,

x = 3y {Since the length of a rectangle is equal to triple the width}

Also,

Perimeter of rectangle = 86

or 2 (x + y) = 86

Plug x =3y in the above equation

We get, 2(3y + y) = 86

2 * 4y = 86

4y = 43

y = 43/4 = 10.75

So, length of rectangle = 3 * 10.75 = 32.25cm

Width of rectangle = 10.75cm
