1. Mean of 6 is 40
Sum x ÷ 6 = 40
Sum x = (40×6) = 240
30 year old leaves, sum x = (240-30) = 210
Mean of 5 people = (210÷5) = 42
2. Not possible

Hope it helped!

1. Total age of people in the room
40 x 6 = 240
Total age after a person age 30 left the room
240 - 30 = 210
since there are 5 people left in the room,
210 ÷ 5 = 42
42 is the new mean.
2. Not possible
