Think: "isolate x." Also, remember that when you mult. or div. terms in an inequality by a neg. # you must reverse the direction of the inequality symbol.

−4x−8>−20 becomes 4x + 8<20 after dividing the original by -1 and then reversing the direction of the inequality symbol.

Now isolate x, first by subtract 8 from both sides and then dividing the result by 4:

4x + 8 < 20
- 8 < -8
----------------------
4x < 12

Divide both sides by 4: x < 3 (answer)
