The science club is raising money for a trip to the museum. Tickets to the museum cost $8. Five students already have a membership to the museum, so they will get in for free. The club raised the $296 needed to take all students in the club to the museum. Complete the equation below to find the number of students in the club. Use s to represent the number of students.

First, write en equation based on the problem
The number of students that will use the fee is 296/8 students. The number of students that will not use the fee is 5 students. Then the equation will be
s = the number of students using fee + the number of students not using fee
s = 296/8 + 5

Second, solve the equation
s = 296/8 + 5
s = 37 + 5
s = 42
The number of students in the club is 42
