Sir Isaac Newton discovered that all bodies with mass attract each other with a force called the gravitational force.
Newton observed falling bodies ( apples on his head) and concluded that the objects fall towards the Earth because of the attractive force exerted by the Earth on the object. This force is a force of attraction that exists between two masses.
Newton's law of gravitation states that the force of attraction between two point masses is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of distance between the two masses.
