A certain machine produces parts that are rectangular prisms. The surface area of each part is found by using the expression 2s+ 4sh where s is the length of a side of the base and h is the height. What is the surface area of that part when s is 0.5 mm and h is 2mm

y = 2 exponent

Surface Area = 2s^2+4sh
s=.5mm
h=2mm
substitute the Values for s and h.
Surface Area = 2(.5mm)^2+4(.5mm)(2mm)= 4.5mm

Answer:

The surface area of each part of the prism is 4.5 mm².

Explanation:

We are given that,

The parts produced are rectangular prisms.

Surface area of each part of the prism =
2s^2+4sh, where s= length of base and h= height.

Now, substituting s= 0.5 mm and h= 2 mm, we get,

Surface area of each part of the prism =
2* 0.5^2+4* 0.5* 2

i.e. Surface area of each part of the prism =
(1)/(2)+4=(9)/(2) = 4.5 mm²

Thus, the surface area of each part of the prism is 4.5 mm².
