King Tut was considered like other pharaohs to be a god among men. He would sit in his throne room and with his advisers think of ways to change things and keep reigning supreme. He didn't actually do much himself and would just order people around and similar things. He would hold political meetings since he wanted to restore Egypt's failing diplomacy and he was successful as seen through the many gifts that he got.
An American person today would not consider these things to lead to success. The American way of living and success is based around protestant ideas which include a lot of work. The habits of a daily life include things like getting up early, working a lot, improving yourself, and eventually you will become successful. This was not the thing with Tut because he didn't have to do anything to become successful.
