Unsure of what you meant by typing "Y : "

I will assume that you want to solve the absolute value equation

| (6/7)y -6 | = 3 for y. One way of doing this is to simplify the equation by multiplying all 3 terms by (7/6):

| y - 7 | = 7/2. This means that y (of which there are two separate values) is 3 1/2 units from the "center," 7.

I'd suggest you draw a number line and mark scale divisions from -10 to +11.

Solution #1: Put a solid dot at 7. This is your center. Move your pencil point 3 1/2 units to the right from there. You'll end up at x = 10 1/2.

Solution #2: Going back to that solid dot at x = 7, move your pencil point 3 1/2 units to the left. You'll end up at x = 3 1/2.

The solution set is { 3 1/2, 10 1/2} . Each of these two numbers will make the original absolute value equation true.

Alternatively, multiply all 3 terms of the original equation by 7:

7| 6/7 y -6 | = 3*7

Then | 6y - 42 | = 21

Divide all terms by 6: |y -7| = 21/6 = 3 1/2

Solve |y -7| = 3 1/2. There are 2 solutions: { 3.5, 10.5}.
