Irving Berlin through his song is trying to imply that New York has multiple cultures. He conveys his love to the country and its features through the song. He understands the idea of multiple cultures and the opportunities it provides to outsiders because he himself is an immigrant.

"My New York" is trying to express the writer's love of the city itself. He even describes the town as worthy of royalty. He is persuading the listener to love the city. The author could even be seen as describing America as a great nation. He is very proud of New York.
