The legal system of States is entirely structured upon the legal tradition of common law which is closely related to each other, except for the Louisiana State that still shows of the law traces of France such as the book of the law of Civil of the 1808th. The States each maintain and develop the rule of law in the fields, such as contract law, corporations law, criminal law, family law, inheritance law, property law, tort, and the conflict of laws (international private law). Meanwhile, the law of the sea, bankruptcy, and patent law are regulated by federal rules.

Most commonly, there are three types of courts in United States individual states. The first is the superior court, which deal with most cases. The higher are the courts of appeal. This is where you can appeal to decisions from the superior courts. The highest form is the state supreme court. If you are still unsatisfied after that, only step left to go to is the supreme court of the United States.
