The number of additional employees who should be laid off to meet target of reducing the workforce by 4% will be as follows:
Total number of workers to be laid off will be given by:
(%ge of employees to be laid off)/100×(Total number of employees)
=4/100×18,600
=744 employees
Given that 126 of the quit voluntarily the remaining number that shpuld be laid off will be:
(total number of employees to be laid off)-(number of employees who quit)
=744-126
=618
Therefore we conclude the 618 more employees should be laid off.
