The North's three-fold battle strategy included capturing Richmond, placing blockades on the south's ports and capturing the Mississippi in order to divide the South in half. The Union made no effort to get Britain to join the war on their side and that was never included in any sort of planning they had.

The correct answer is:
1.Capture Richmond. Richmond is located in the state of Virginia and the it was used as the South's capital during the Civil War. Conquering Richmond would deal a tremendous blow to the South's forces.
2.Blockade South's ports. By blockading the South's ports the North would effectively cut of South from getting the supplies from Europe and severely cripple the Confederate Army.
3.Seize the control of the Mississippi and divide the South in half. The North's plan was to capture the Mississippi river and stop the South from sending supplies to its armies via the River. This would also divide the South as some Confederate states would be separated from the rest of the Confederacy.
