Initial amount: s.
Then, after having spent 7% of his savings, the amount left is 0.93s =
£771.90.
Dividing both sides by 0.93, we get s =
£830.
Check: What is 7% of
£830? 0.07(£830) = £58.1. If we subtract that from £830, do we get
£771.90? Try it.
