Since the ratio is 4:3, you can set the equation 7x = 84
and 4x = fiction, 3x = nonfiction.
x=12
so there are 48 fiction and 36 nonfiction

The teacher has 48 fiction books and 36 non-fiction books.
1) 4*12=48 3*12=36
2) 48+36=84
3)4:3 = 48:36
