C. Density stratification
Let's look at the options and see what makes sense.
A. Plate tectonics
* This has to do with the movement of the Earth's crust. Doesn't really involve the separation or formation of the layers. So this is a bad choice.
B. Accretion
* This was key in the original creation of Earth, but doesn't address why the layers separated out. So another bad choice.
C. Density stratification
* This is pretty much dead on. The denser parts of the earth during accretion, migrated towards the center with less dense layers going on top. So this is the correct choice.
D. Subduction
* This is an aspect of plate tectonics where one place is pushed underneath another plate. Doesn't have a lot to do with layer creation, so a bad choice.
E. Condensation
* This process happened when vaporized compounds cool and condense into liquids and solids. Not a part of layer generation, so a bad choice.
