On one side of a football stadium are 30 suites on the Circle Level. Fourteen of the suites have 24 seats each, and the rest have 18 seats. Tyler says that 14/30 is the simplest form of the fraction to describe the suites with 24 seats. Is he correct? Use models to support your conclusion and explain why Tyler is correct or incorrect.

For this case what you can do is a rule of three to know how many suites have 24 seats.
We have then:
30 --- 100%
14 --- x
Clearing x we have
x = (14/30) * 100 = 46.67%
this means that:
0.4667 * 30 = 14
Equivalently
(14/30) * 30 = 14
Therefore it is shown that (14/30) is correct to represent the number of suites that have 24 seats.
answer
Tyler is correct. 14/30 is the simplest form of the fraction to describe the suites with 24 seats.

Tyler is incorrect in stating that the fraction 14/30 is the simplest form of the fraction that could be used to describe the configuration of the suites in the stadium. This is because the numerator and denominator both still contain a common multiple by which they could be reduced, in this case 2. Reducing as such yields a fraction of 7/15, which is in fact the simplest form of the fraction.
